My Greek mother vouches for them & that's good enough for me!

Has to be one of the best fast food places of all time! Family owned and the food is better when mom and dad are there(sorry to kids, but its the truth!) Dad is Greek(so is my husband--well, DH is 1/2 Greek) and they start talking and the rest is history. the broiled chicken on pita is very good as is the BBQ chicken dinner. Of course the gyros are good, although I only get the Jr.--believe me, its enough to feed an army!. For our wedding, Mickey's catered our rehearsal dinner--we had a picnic in the park for the rehearsal dinner(formal the next night, so why not?). Everyone raved about the food and the prices did not break us! This was in 2001, but just for the record, they do cater. I don't live in the area anymore, but when I visit, I always stop at Mickey's!

Reasonable prices for "ok" food. I've tried the BBQ chicken dinner and the beef sandwich, and felt it was good, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. Haven't been back in a year b/c of that........if you're in the area, it's convenient, and worth trying, but nothing special. You don't get cravings for it like you do Portillo's beef and chicken. LOL

Service is OK, used to be better. Menu is hit and miss for me. Supposedly their ribs are really good from what my family tells me but I'm not a Ribs guy. I always get their Broiled Chicken Breast sandwhich. Soup is good though. All in all very Average with high and low peaks.

Update - the situation regarding the Double Take coupons has been resolved. It was a different person on this particular day vs who we normally deal with. Food has never been an issue. Just try to print a coupon if you can, although the trend is towards the digital coupons these days.

I've had better. Gyro was very dry that day.. My son had hot dog, it wasn't on poppyseed bun like other locations, fries were stake. Hopefully when I go back experience will be different, but for now I can only give 2stars:( The one in Hillside,IL is always good an fresh. I was so wanting to taste that yumminess at this location..

Love this place. Grilled cheese, mozzarella sticks, gyros plates, etc! All is good. My favorite is their garlic bread and cream of chicken soup but they only have it twice a week. The inside is clean and sometimes I meet my mom there for lunch during the work day. Drive through can sometimes be slow. People working there are always nice and it is family owned.

Yuck. Mickeys what the hell happened? This used to be a place I loved years ago. Now the food is absolutely terrible. How do you mess up a Gyro!? I never thought that was possible because you just cut some meat off of a spit and put it onto a pita. (The only way I hate my gyros prepared is with pre sliced thawed meat. If I don't see the spit I always ask how the meat is prepared.) Well Mickeys has managed to find a way to make it horrible with a spit. I stopped here because I wanted a gyro, and this location was the closest to me. I really wish I hadn't been so lazy and took a drive elsewhere. My gyro tasted like the meat hadn't been cut off the spit fresh, but rather cut earlier in the day, and the cook had the meat sitting in a greasy pan. It was after 9pm when I visited this Mickeys so they probably had the spit broken down, and pre cut the meat being used. The meat had a very gross oil taste to it. I was majorly turned off by this and will never return. My last few visits which have been few and far between the food has been absolutely TERRIBLE. Mr.Submarine demolishes this place. Mickeys- There will be no next time.

We grabbed some gyros from Mickey's tonight. We've had better. The orders were light on the sauce, tomatoes and onions and no peppers. The sauce was rather bland. We probably won't be back.

This place is really really great. I had a mad craving for barbecue and my dad took me here. They have the most awesome pulled pork sandwiches. Love the sauce that is one the table. I put it on everything, even my sandwich which already had sauce on it. Prices were so reasonable and they have everything under the sun, burgers, hotdogs, ribs, gyros and fries. Still thinking about that sauce. It was not from a bottle, about a the best I have ever tasted. Will so going back for the ribs.
(5)Brian S.
They aren't the absolute best but their ribs and gyros are good. Actually above average! Worth the money.
(4)Nancy M.
Food was decent despite finding a dust clump and hair in fries. Hot dogs, fries, mozzarella sticks were warm. Gyro was average. Wish it had better sauce. Service was okay . I wish they would have recorded our order while we gave it as that would have prevented two errors. Be prepared to pay 50 cents for a soda refill.

Love this place! Delicious gyros and beef and sausage. If you are hungry go to Mickeys!
(5)John H.
First time in this restaurant. A friend recommend the gyros. The gyros was very very good. I ordered the ribs. They were great. The sauce was the best I ever had. The ribs were tender and done perfectly. My only criticism was the bathroom. Rusty toilet paper holder, the room needed a good cleaning. If they would spend a half hour and 50 bucks and they would have a great place. If what I can see is dirty, what about the places I don't see.

Customer service here sucks. The guys are jerks that work here. I asked if they had sprite and I was told by the dude "we have Sierra mist" I said oh no thanks I'll have a water" be said "Sierra mist is the same shit" that was his response. Uh I just left and canceled my order. I'm not dealing with cursing and attitude when I'm being polite and giving you business. The food here is not all that great. Aj's has better gyros and food anyway. I'll just stick to them.
(1)Chris S.
Really good Gyros. I've had better but that involves a 45 minute drive to the city. Best in Joliet by far though. I love the old school charm.
(4)Cole L.
The food is awesome here! They also have friendly, fast service! I usually get the Italian beef with cheese fries or moz sticks. Delish!
(5)Twylla S.
This place is mediocre...but I guess it's a J-town staple. Go to Mr. Submarine...
(3)Roy H.
Love Mickey's! You can call ahead and have your food ready in 5 minutes. Always good and always reasonably priced. The service is very good there too

The wife and I went to this place a couple of days ago. I used to go to this place a lot a while ago as it always was very good. Last couple of times we were not impressed so we rarely go. However we felt like some Italian beef sandwiches and decided to go here as it is only a couple of minutes away. Ordered the beef sandwiches with hot peppers and onion rings. I have never been so disgusted eating food in my life. I am not sure how they can put meat that you cannot chew on bread and actually call it food. It is rare that I just throw away food but this was one time. I have gotten gyros here before and they are not very good either. Chunks of hard shit doesn't work with me very well. So anyways after spending 20 dollar for our food and being extremely disgusted we won't ever go back again. It is disappointing because it is family owned and so close to home but I refuse to support mom and pop businesses if you cannot produce actual good tasting food. Either learn how to properly cook food or get higher quality ingredients. I guess the hot dogs aren't bad but you can get good tasting hot dogs anywhere. Not very difficult to make hot dogs. If you want good tasting food either go to Windy City grill in romoeoville or Clem's on rt 30. Haven't been to Tony's yet but hear they aren't too bad.

Mmmm Mickey's. You can smell the fried goodness driving by. There is plenty of seating inside and a drive through as well, though the drive though is a little slow. As a mom and pop place, the service can be a little slow. It is worth it. The food is always good and the salads are fresh. In fact I buy the house salads with garlic dressing quite often at about 2 bucks a pop. The portions for everything are very generous. Fries fill up half the bag and the fried dinners are enough for 3. They have a decent variety of menu items and they offer much of it for catering. This place is a bit of a must have in the area. Super good.

Since we're knee-deep in the 2nd phase of the Obama Recession, "fair" is the new "great" as far as fast food is concerned. Fast food restaurants have struggled to keep prices low while keeping quality and sales up. Mickey's food is consistently good. And, providing food that's merely good (not great, not awesome) makes a restaurant head & shoulders above most other restaurants in the area. My suggestions.... order one pound of gyro meat and six pitas. They'll include the sauce. It'll cost $10-$12 but feeds three grown men. My wife likes the ribeye steak sandwich and I do, too. The place looks quite clean. The staff is friendly. Family owned. SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESSES which, I'm certain, will go extinct once we get a little deeper in the Obama Recession. I like the fact that you can order a bunch of things and they don't need to write your order down. The guy taking your order remembers everything, just the way you order it, and relays it to the cooks. And, strangely, I've NEVER had an incorrect order. NEVER. They must only hire savants to work there. I also like the fact that the local police lunch there. I've noticed that ghetto scumbags tend to keep their mouths shut and be a little less obnoxious in an establishment when the local police are visiting.

I frequent here often, very good food and friendly customer service. Best gyros around.. Perfect for a quick meal , reasonable and large portions.
(5)Dave F.
Love the Gyro's. The plate has enough for 2 - 4 people so order extra pita's. Tried there Burger it was tasty.A little slow in the service area. Sit in drive thru lane for 15 min. sometimes. But its worth the wait.

Good fast food and no it's not an oxymoron! I had the 3 hotdog and fry option with fried mushrooms (a trucker's dream!)... I gave up after one dog and some fries and like 4 mushrooms (ranch sauce sucked though, lighten up on the cheap mayo). Too much for this diet guy gone crazy! The dog was tasty, but no hot peppers on an everything dog? The mushrooms looked as though they were made in old grease, I like them golden brown like a hot chick's skin on summer break. I'm not gonna down the place for the fried mushrooms, for now. The fries are you basic, run of the mill crinkle cut fries and cooked in clean oil it looked to me. Yes I had to brave the cold to walk off the fat and sodium to a level that wouldn't put me in a mid-workday coma. Overall? I will go back but I like Mr. Submarine better.

After reading the other reviews I must have caught them on a good night, I love ribs, and there is not a good rib place in this town, someone mentioned Portillo's? not even close. this place has the best ribs I have ever tasted, the fries were just OK , but the ribs were fantastic, I got a full slab, I never thought I could eat that much, it was twice of what you get at that other place, ! full slab of ribs, fries, cole slaw, garlic bread, for $18.09, If your ever in the area, you know like if your tired of being shot at in Chicago, come down to Mickeys, your tummy will love you for it.
(4)Phil L.
I've been eating at Mickeys since they were at 71st and Harlem. I love ribs and these are great! You don't have to work at cleaning the bone because the meat pulls cleanly off with no effort. Everything else is average to good. Very reasonable prices too.

my cousin recommended this place for me and let me tell you I'm letdown. Ups - it was fast, the fries were ok, the pita w/ my gyro was alright. Downs - that was some of the most bland rubbery gyro meat I have ever had, it tasted like someone chewed up leather and spit it on my pita. The sauce was bland as hell too, felt like they just threw cucumbers into sour cream and called it a day. Suggestion: Salt and pepper, use it. Terrible, I would rather eat soup kitchen food out of a homeless person's mouth. Just an awful experience, I didn't even finish the slop on my plate they told me was food. Will never go back.

GEESH! I've been a Mickey's customer for nearly 9 years now and have always enjoyed the quality of their menu items. Recently, however, service has hit an all-time low! After placing my lunch order for a steak burrito at the drive-thru, I was told to park and wait. Ten minutes later, after 6 or 7 cars had gone past me, I went inside to inqure about my order. The rudeness of the manager astounded me. After being told he was being slammed, I was criticized for NOT ordering something simple like a hot dog. As he launched into a harangue about how his "fresh food" was always worth waiting for, I asked for a refund. Miraculously, my burrito appeared from the back! Too bad it was nearly 20 minutes after I ordered and I was late for work. I took my refund and ran and, sadly, will never return. Klem's on Route 30 is just a few minutes up the road, offers great food at good prices, knows how to get your order to you quickly and has FRENDLY service!
